The SCPS Raider Basketball team closed their home season out in impressive fashion. Last Tuesday, the Lady Raiders played host to Portal for their Senior Night game. This was a special moment for all of the seniors as they were able to take the court in front of their home fans one last time. The night became even more special early in the game as Paige Dennis scored her 1,000th career point. In the end, the Lady Raiders came out victorious over Portal by a score of 62-22.
The Lady Raiders then finished the season with two tough road losses. The first defeat came to region opponent Savannah Country Day who were able to top the Lady Raiders by a score of 41-47. The Raiders then fell to Pinewood Christian Academy the following night in another tight contest by a score of 34-41. The Lady Raiders finished the regular season with an overall record of 15-10.
On Tuesday, the Lady Raiders traveled to Montgomery County High School to compete in the first round of the region tournament. The Lady Raiders faced Johnson County High School, a team that the Raiders defeated comfortably earlier in the season. This result proved to be much of the same as the Lady Raiders were able to end the night with the 80-30 victory and advance to the next round of the tournament. The Raiders will be in action again on Thursday, February 6th as they take on Wheeler County.
